Universal is bringing something brand-new to Texas this summer, and families with young children will want to keep this destination on their radar. Universal Kids Resort is coming to Frisco, Texas, and it will be Universal’s first-ever theme park designed specifically for families with young children. The park is scheduled to officially open on July 1, 2026, with tickets, hotel packages, and annual passes now on sale.

Unlike Universal’s larger theme parks in Orlando and Hollywood, Universal Kids Resort is being built around kid-sized fun, creativity, play, discovery, and family-friendly entertainment. The new park will feature seven themed lands inspired by beloved characters from DreamWorks, Illumination, Nickelodeon, and more. Families can expect kid-friendly rides, interactive play areas, character meet-and-greets, themed dining, entertainment, and plenty of colorful spaces designed with younger guests in mind.
DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
This playful land brings ogre-sized fun with humor, interactive elements, and storybook charm inspired by Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and friends. One highlight is Shrek and Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, where guests follow Shrek and Fiona’s triplets as they help tell the story of how their parents met, including the famous tower rescue with Donkey along for the adventure.
Jurassic World Adventure Camp
Little dinosaur fans will love Jurassic World Adventure Camp. This land brings the excitement of Jurassic World to life in a more kid-friendly way, with adventure-style play and family attractions. Guests can even come face-to-face with baby raptors during a special meet-and-greet experience.
Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
Universal Kids Resort will also invite guests under the sea with a trip to Bikini Bottom, inspired by Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants. Families can explore popular locations from the show and enjoy playful attractions like Mrs. Puff’s Boating School, where kids and grown-ups navigate swerves, spins, and nautical fun. SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Texas’s own Sandy Cheeks are also expected to appear for meet-and-greet moments.
Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
Get ready for silly chaos at Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club. This bright and playful land brings the Yellow and Purple Minions together for water-soaked fun. Aboard Bello Bay Cruise, families can brave the rapids, watch the Minions battle it out, and prepare for plenty of splash-zone surprises.
DreamWorks’ TrollsFest
DreamWorks’ TrollsFest will bring music, color, dancing, and high-energy fun to Universal Texas. King Trollex Techno Dance Party is expected to be a lively celebration filled with disco balls, upbeat music, and plenty of movement. Guests can also snap photos with Poppy and friends during a glitter-filled character meet-and-greet.
DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar
In Puss in Boots Del Mar, families can enjoy swashbuckling charm, interactive games, and colorful kitty adoption day festivities. Guests can board Swings Over Del Mar for sweeping views of the land, then meet Puss in Boots during an exclusive character experience.
Isle of Curiosity
The seventh land, Isle of Curiosity, is inspired by Gabby’s Dollhouse. This playful area is designed as a colorful “playtopia,” where kids can roam, imagine, and interact with their favorite characters while adults enjoy shaded seating and a more relaxed pace.
With seven themed lands, familiar characters, kid-friendly attractions, and a 300-room on-site hotel, Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, is shaping up to be one of the most exciting new family vacation destinations in the country. For families looking for a manageable, playful, and younger-child-focused theme park experience, Universal Texas may be the perfect getaway.
